Frola Katyeka from Mkima village, she has 49 years old with 5 children and married to Ivod Katyeka.
She said that; ‘Before joining to CRAFT project with Mpui cooperative especially on sunflower subsector, I was producing and farming sunflower locally. After I joined with the project I learnt and gained different practices and technologies such as planting by spacing as before I was broadcasting, using local variety that per acre I used 8kilograms and also I learnt other practices likely using an improved seeds that are resilient with climate shocks.
Through Mpui cooperative I benefited from seeds access (Black Record) with 2Kgs/acre that I planted to my farm. So due to training provided through FFS ’and mobilizations and awareness created to me, currently my sunflower in the farm are looking goods and attractive comparing to neighboring farms who used local variety and local methods on planting such as Broadcasting. So I say thank you CRAFT and Mpui cooperative on assisting me to get one bundle/package of seeds and for the coming year I’m going to add a number of acre up to 4 acres’.
