Achievement
- Entering into sunflower business proposal competition under CRAFT project; this project is implemented by SNV Netherlands Development Organization (lead) in partnership with WUR, CGIAR, CCAFS, Agriterra, and Rabo Bank, it’s funded by Netherland Ministry of Foreign Affairs. SNV under CRAFT project provides grant to 11 cooperatives and 30 SMEs in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Mpui cooperative has been one of the 11 cooperatives in East Africa that succeeded to be enrolled in the selection process and is in its final stages of winning the grant. An expected grant amount is TZS. 717,500,000/= (USD 309,400.6)
- Signed a contract with SOCOSE Company from Rwanda to supply 1,000,000 KGs of white maize for the year 2021.
- From June to December 2020 our cooperative got an assistance grant of USD 10,000 from USADF under C.A.R.E.S COVID 19 Programme Assistance.
- We have a contract to supply 1,200,000 KGs of white maize to Rainbow Haulage & Commodities Company Limited,
- We have an order of supplying 2,000,000 KGs of white maize to National Food Reserve Agency HEREINAFTER known as NFRA
- We have an order of supplying 500,000 KGs of white maize to Apeck International Limited
- Establishment of 20 Village Aggregation Centers (VACs) from 20 villages where our cooperative operates in order to facilitate crops aggregation. The VACs enable the cooperative to aggregate maize from farmers before storing into main warehouse for marketing
- Establishment and registration of MPUI AMCOS LIMITED that will deal with agricultural activities and work closely with farmers.
- Increase in number of members from 961 members to 1,131 members in December 2020
- For the period of 2020/2021 the cooperative signed a contract with TADB bank to provide an agricultural inputs loans on maize value chain, Mpui cooperative acquired loan of TZS 449,972,000 from Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) that benefited 348 farmers from Mpui division.
- Market linkage of farmers with different maize off-takers and crop aggregators. Under USADF project there was a package fund for searching market in order to sell farmers’ produce. On 2020 the cooperative sold white maize to different buyers such as; (a) Mbasira Food Industries who bought a total of 928,503 KGs of white maize at a price of 530TZS/KG as a total sales was TZS 492,106,590 (b) National Food Reserve Regency (NFRA) who bought a total 453,570 KGs of white maize at a price of 550TZS/KG with the total sales revenue of TZS 249,463,500 in 2020 and (c) Apeck International Limited who bought a total of 150,000 KGs at a price of 470TZS/KG with the total sales revenue of TZS 70,500,000.
- Increase of productivity and quantity of maize purchased by the cooperative from farmers. After the assistance from USADF the cooperative managed to increase production per acre from 2,160 KGs on 2019 to 2,700 KGs in 2020. Increased yield per acre led to rise in volume of white maize purchased by the cooperative as the coop purchased 2,777,760 KGs from farmers.
- Increase of maize sales revenue of the cooperative and income sales of the farmers. Through assistance from USADF on market search the cooperative succeeded to fetch a higher market price as institution total sales revenue increased up to TZS 809,070,090 and total farmers’ sales incomes was TZS 785,133,440.
- Improved livelihood of the members. This was possible through support from SADF project and other partners in Mpui cooperative, most farmers increased and improved incomes, diversified their economic activities, and started enrolling their children to private school.
- Development of 5 years Maize sub-sector Business Plan that funded by USADF. The business plan covered 7 strategic objectives (herewith attached Business Plan for the reference).

Achievement
- Increase in number of members from 882 members to 961 members.
- Signed a contract with TADB bank to provide agricultural inputs loans of TZS 313,616,000 to 314 farmers. Mpui cooperative managed to get loan from TADB for purchase of maize inputs whereby the farmers benefited with 10 KGs/Acre of maize hybrid seeds, 150 KGs/Acre of fertilizers and 200 Mills/Acre of pesticides
- Sales of white maize worth TZS 852,176,400 and farmers’ sales income of TZS 736,200,000. The cooperative through assistance from USADF managed to sell farmers’ produce to different buyers; such as maize sales revenue to Rainbow Company worth TZS 598,122,600, to Musoma Food Company worth TZS 239,939,700 and to Temba worth TZS 13,500,000.
- Working with a new partner called RUDI on the project known as ‘membership equity’ funded by USAID CLUSER. This is 4 years project from 2019- 2023.
- Increase in maize productivity of farmers from producing 15 bags (each 108 KGs) per acre in 2018 to 20 bags per acre in the 2019
- Working with a new partner (HELVETES organization) on the project known as Save Safe Food. Main objectives of the project are; (a) Distribution and knowledge dissemination of hermetic bags to community, (b) Aggregation of quality maize, and (c) Buying and selling of maize through collective market.
- Repayment of inputs loans of TZS 495,814,500 with hold 12% interest rate. On 2018/2019 under the coop got a loan from Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank and the loan was to be paid on 2019, through maize trade the cooperative managed to repay by 100%.

Achievement
- Increase of members from 664 members to 865 members
- Signed Maize forward delivering contract (FDC) with Rainbow Printers Company (currently known as Rainbow Haulage & Commodities Company Limited).
- Signed agricultural inputs loan contract with Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) of TZS 495,814,500. Hereby the cooperative was provided with inputs loans for purchase of fertilizers, maize seeds and insecticides that resulted into an increase in productivity from 1,620 kilograms per acre to 2,160 kilograms per acre.
- Won and signed a USADF project grant with grant number 4877-TZA (Mpui Maize Capacity Building Project) with grant size of TZS 155,916,420. The project started on July 2018 and ended up on December 2020.
- Sales of maize worth approximately of TZS 507,160,000 to Musoma Food Company and National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA).
